I agree that the setup should be as easy as possible; we could develop a wizard that allows you to simply check which dictionaries to download.
A method to obtain dictionaries from other programs instead would require a lot of work and be prone to bugs. And what programs should we support? Openoffice, Firefox, Thunderbird, AbiWord, maybe more? I'm afraid I won't have the time to develop and maintain these import features. They all have different installation methods and extension formats, not to mention differences between versions.
