I've done it already. Maybe you missed the patch, if so, you can find it
at
http://www.movement.uklinux.net/patches/lyx/
it's called something like "install-1.1.6.diff".
I can rediff if needed.

p.s. IMHO it's fairly important just because /usr/local/kde/ is a weird
install location for lyx on a machine *without* KDE :))
