That can be done. :-) Such as it is it a file format that is not from a stable series gets the next stable version suffix because effectively that was the version that produce it and (before the backport of lyx2lyx to the previous stable series) the first lyx version that was able to read it. My point with the code was just to show that this can be attained easily. I am open to suggestions. -- José Abílio
