Do you have spell checking on the fly enabled? Possibly the reason was the Arabic spellchecking dictionary which has been changed between 2.4 and 2.5. The previous one (which was ca. 3 times as large) obviously could have made LyX crash. See https://www.lyx.org/trac/ticket/13221 I am not sure how this works on Windows, but possibly the new (smaller) spelling dictionary installed with 2.5 beta is now also used with 2.4 for you.
