I do not think it's worth it. Other changes (from 2.4.4 to 2.4.5) will be minimal so the main reason someone would upgrade is 2.4<->2.5 roundtrip and that needs p3 anyway. So to sum up I think we should document the change and write with all caps in the release announcement that python2 will not work unlike with previous 2.4 releases.
