Oh, if that was your intention, I have a better solution. Since version
1.7.33 (November 2014, more or less) cygwin introduced a symlink
/proc/cygdrive pointing to the current cygdrive prefix (whatever it is).
So, in your patch it suffices changing the line
string const cygdrive = "/cygdrive";
to
string const cygdrive = "/proc/cygdrive";
to account for whatever cygdrive prefix chosen by the user.
