I've added a couple of nice features to make building nice patches
easier. This is an extension of the work originally done in September
of 2000. Only this time I hope to get something into the main tree now
that the maintainer actually appears to doing some work on it for a
change.
He already seems to have made some major revisions based on ideas from
my original patches. As a result these patches are considerably
smaller and neater than the last lot were.

I hope to have an RPM by the end of the week. I'm also hoping for
some feedback before I submit these patches.
