Just to get it right: Your prefered behaviour is
'<change-to-cal> L <change-to-normal>'
to enter \mathcal{L}? What make this superior to
'<change-to-one-shot-cal> L'
except that "it is different than outside" mathed? [The difference is
obviously not nice, but mathed _is_ used differently]
