The problem is that Qt _is_ braindead. However, at some point of time I was thinking about the future of LyX and given limited resources and the fact that Qt provides sufficient platform independency I came to the conclusion that we might have to re-evaluate our 'all frontends are equal' dogma and favour one of the 'quicker to develop for' toolkits.
