So the crash is in the installer, right? There's not much we can do about that. I *do* know that Luis Rivera was using LyX 1.3.7 successfully on Win98 but he was unable to use the installer. Do you have access to a more modern Windows machine? If so, install LyX on that, then zip up the contents of C:\Program Files\LyX (or whereever you install it) and unzip this .zip on your WinME machine. If you don't have access to such a machine then drop me a line and I'll zip something up for you. You'll need to do a few things by hand that the installer would otherwise do for you. The most important of these is that you'll need to run the LyX configure script. To do that, you'll need to go open up a cmd console on the WinME machine, go into C:\Program Files\LyX\Resources and run the configure script: set PATH=C:\Msys\bin;%PATH% sh configure Try taking this to the lyx-users list. There are lots of Windows users on there and they have real world experience of getting LyX to run properly on Windows. Angus
