I want start working on translation web site in Russian. How can i get
write access to this pages. And what am i have to do for it?
We can give you the password for our www.lyx.org webpage. But before
translating the webpage I think that LyX's menus, and buttons should be
translated. Looking at
http://www.lyx.org/I18n
you can see that the Russian translation of LyX is incomplete. Before
starting to translate the webpage, the LyX translation should be updated to
have at least 3200 translated strings (the green region in
http://www.lyx.org/I18n)
Translating LyX is done by modifying the file "ru.po" that you find here:
http://www.lyx.org/trac/browser/lyx-devel/branches/BRANCH_1_6_X/po
To translate this file I can recommend to use this program:
http://www.poedit.net/
More about translation is written here:
http://www.lyx.org/trac/browser/lyx-devel/branches/BRANCH_1_6_X/README.localization
Hi,
I agree with Uwe, at least the menus and buttons are worth translating.
Otherwise screenshots will be confusing for those who don't read English.
Having said that, of course we can give you to the password and set you up
to start translating web pages. But then users may get a bit disappointed
that the actual software isn't translated, and I don't know how familiar
russians in general are with Enghlish.
Best regards,
Christian
