Hi Richard

Here are some suggested corrections for the Additional features manual.

1 Introduction
[paragraph 1] . . . the LyX Team has worked to make LyX extensible . . .
['make' missing]

2.4.3.1 Example #1: Offsets
[paragraph 2] . . . both 0 points, i. e. the page isn't shifted . . .Suppose
your left . . . ['i.e.' rather than 'i.g.'; 'your' rather than 'you're']

5.1.1 Introduction
[Version 7.00 (Jauary 2010) is available from the website listed; so this
whole section needs to be updated; I am happy to have a go at this if you
would like]

[paragraph 2] . . . the original manual but is merely a short guide in how . .
. ['is' missing; 'in' before 'how' is more idiomatic]

[paragraph 3] . . . That change involved some slight changes to
the style files, namely the removal of the thesaurus command. The LyX class aa
supports version 5.01. Refer to the version 7.00 documentation available from
the website if you choose to install the newest version. For compatibility,
the old (version 4) layout has been kept as article (A&A V4). Please refer to
the comments in LYXDir/layouts/aapaper.layout. ['involved' is better than
'implicated'; 'changes to' is better than 'changes of'; other changes to
reflect latest version]

5.2.2 Starting a New Paper
[paragraph 1] . . . Such commands are referred to as TeX code. [delete 'or
Evil Red Text' as this is no longer used elsewhere in the help documentation]

5.8 Elsevier Journals
[paragraph 1 url]
http://www.elsevier.com/wps/find/authorsview.authors/latex . . . LyX includes
a package . . . [current url is out of date; 'a' needed before 'package']

5.11.2 Writing a paper
[enumerate 9] . . . use some TeX code to overcome this ... ['overcome' rather
than 'overpass']

5.12.2 Writing a paper
[bullet 1] . . . PDF, PS, or DVI, ensure that the . . . ['ensure' rather than
'assure']

5.13 Kluwer
[Kluwer is now part of Springer and the url links to:
http://www.springer.com/?SGWID=0-102-0-0-0
? delete whole section]

5.14.1 Overview
[bullets 2 and 3: remove 'A detailed German description of these and other
type area options can be found in the Koma-Script documentation scrguide.';
after bullets]
Detailed descriptions of the LaTeX document classes of the Koma-Script family
can be found in the Koma-Script documentation scrguide (German) and scrguien
(English). [new wording; delete footnote as this no longer applies]

5.14.4 The new letter class: letter (koma-script v.2)
[paragraph 1] . . . it is recommended you use the new class. ['you' rather
than 'to' is more idiomatic]

[paragraph 3] . . . configurable to meet almost any needs. ['to meet' is the
normal expression]

5.16.1 Overview
[paragraph 2] . . . rest of features) we recommend you have a look . . . ['we
recommend you do something' is the normal expression]

5.16.2 Basic features and restrictions
[Description Page style] . . . (they both define a command with the same name,
which confuses LaTeX). Instead, Memoir comes with a number of its own page
styles. ['they both define' is the correct expression; 'number of its own' is
more idiomatic - 'its' is needed, anyway]

[Description Sectioning] . . . subsection etc.) come with an optional . . .
['come with' is the correct expression]

5.16.3 Extra features
[Description Chapterprecis] . . . You may know this older typesetting style:
The contents of a chapter are summarised below the title . . . ['belletristic'
is a very rare word and really out of place in a user manual; 'shortly' is
only used in respect of time, not size - so I have suggested an alternative]

5.19 RevTeX4
[paragraph 1]The Revtex 4 textclass works with the American Physical Sociey's
RevTeX 4.1 class. [I haven't tried this but RevTeX4.1 was issued in August
2010 and the announcement refers mostly to bugfixes and additional features
and only mentions having the most recent version of natbib installed as
essential]

[paragraph 3]. . . to be used in addition to the RevTeX 4.1 documents . . .
[update to 4.1]

[The rest of this section may need some revision.]

5.20 Springer Journals (svjour)
[This entire section needs re-writing as the article layouts are now provided
with each separate journal while book layouts are described at
http://www.springer.com/authors/book+authors?SGWID=0-154102-12-417900-0
The URL in the first paragraph simply links to the main page and not to the
layouts pages.]

5.21.3.2 Quirks of the New Environments
[paragraph 4] . . . In that case, enter your descriptive comment . . . ['in'
is not needed]

[paragraph 5] . . . don't want to enter any descriptive text . . . ['in' is
not needed]

6.1 Checking TeX
[chktex is now listed as obsolete in CTAN; this section needs deleting]

6.2.2.5 Undo Last Checkin
This pretends that the last check in never happened . . . ['pretends that' is
more idiomatic]

6.2.2.6 Show History
This shows the complete history . . . ['shows' rather than 'show']

6.2.3.4 Show History
This shows the complete history . . . ['shows' rather than 'show' - same as
above]

6.2.4.6 Show History
This shows the complete history . . . ['shows' rather than 'show' - same as
above]

6.2.4.7 File Locking
[paragraph 1] . . . When such a conflict happens . . . edit the file at the
given time. ['a' needed before 'conflict'; 'the' needed before 'file']

[paragraph 2]SVN has two such mechanisms to provide mutual exclusivity . . .
automatic setting . . . If this property is detected . . . different modes of
file use in LyX: ['has two such mechanisms to provide' is more idiomatic;
'automatic'; 'if' is more idiomatic; 'modes of file use' is more idiomatic]

{Description: Unlocked state] . . . For editing one needs . . . Check-out
consists of updating from the repository . . . ['editing' for the process;
'updating' as with 'gaining'; 'the' needed before 'repository']

6.2.4.8 Automatic Locking Property ['automatic', not 'automatical']
The above mentioned automatic setting of . . . ['automatic', not
'automatical']

6.2.4.9 Revision Information in Documents
[paragraph 1] Currently there is no way to provide such information . . .
['how' and 'kind of' both not needed]

6.2.5.3 SSH tunel used with SVN under Windows
Compared with Linux setting up a svn client . . . is a rather . . . at least
offer some hints how to setup the client side but prior knowledge about ssh
and the Windows . . . ['compared with' is more idiomatic; 'Linux' - uppercase
L; 'setting up a' is more idiomatic; 'a' needed before 'rather'; 'offer' is
more idiomatic; 'the' is needed before 'client'; 'prior' is the correct
expression; 'the' needed before 'Windows'; also should be ellipse rather than
three dots after frustration]

[Enumerate 1]1. Get a svn client . . . in the previous . . .is a fresh install
. . .to create config files, which you will need to change later on. ['a'
needed before 'svn'; 'the' needed before 'previous'; 'a' needed before
'fresh'; 'to create' is the correct expression]

[Enumerate 2]Choose a ssh client . . . are several possibilities, . . . to set
the connection up so that the client . . . ['a' needed before 'ssh'; 'several'
is the correct expression; 'set the connection up' is simpler and more
idiomatic; 'the' needed before 'client']

[Enumerate (a)] . . . If the SVN server runs on Linux, . . .with Linux openssh
['If' is more idiomatic; 'Linux' uppercase - twice]

6.2.5.4 End-of-Line Conversions
[paragraph 1] . . . This is not a problem . . . ['a' needed before 'problem']

6.3.1 Introduction
[paragraph 1]. . . for literate programming, where it is assumed . . . [comma
and lower case 'w' because this is a subordinate clause linked to the previous
main clause]

6.3.2 Literate Programming
[Quotation] . . . D. E. Knuth [wrong initial; also needs to be uppercase]

6.3.2.1 References
[URL] www.literateprogramming.com/lpfaq.pdf [needs updating as it is now in
PDF at a new location]

7 Secrets of the LaTeX Masters
[paragraph 2] . . . a system like TeXLive ['teTeX' is obsolete]

7.3 Dropped Capitals
[paragraph 2] . . . not a standard part of TeXLive ['teTeX' is obsolete and it
isn't in TeXLive]
