After staying away from using Lyx (0.10.7) for more than one year I tried to update it  with 0.12.0. After running configure I got the following messages at the end:

+Inspection done.
+Read the file doc/LaTeXConfig.lyx for more information.

deleting cache ./config.cache

Then I tried Klyx 0.9.8

checking for QT... configure: error: QT-1.3 (headers and libraries) not found. Please check your installation!

When I check for qt, I get

>rpm -q qt
qt-1.32-1
qt-1.31-1
qt-1.33-1rh4

When I run the binary Lyx (lyx-0.12.0-linux-elf-x86-libc5-bin) I get the following message in a window:

LyX wasn't able to find it's layout description
Check that the file "textclass.lst" is installed correctly.

(Remark: it's should be written its)
and

LyXTextClassList::Read: unable to find textclass file  `~/<unknown_path>'. Exiting.
LyXSetStyle: an error occured during parsing.
             Exiting.

As I am only a simple user I don't know what else to do. Can you help me to get something running?
Thanks,
  Hartmut Haase
