Is there any manual or documentation on the items addressed in
".layout" files? I would like to write and contribute such files
adapted to the requirements of journals in which I use to publish.

Presently I have "iucr.cls", "iucr.bst" and a template "template.tex".
Copying the stuff from a "nice LaTeX file" into the template works,
but it is quite boring. What is important in building the interface
between iucr.cls and LyX? Because the publisher wants to have the
work of the typesetter done by the author, the layout is 2-sided
with running title and short author list, a synopsis in addition to
the abstract, an indicator which specifies the unique journal (there
are slight differences in the output among these journals) and two
different kinds of citations: \cite{} and \citeasnoun{} (and this
is only a selection of all the specialities).
