is Lyx "another microcomputer word porcessor?"
More seriously: while trying to accomodate the publisher's request, I
would suggest pointing out that LaTeX is much more used in physics than
Word, so I wonder how the Journal of Polymer science gets along!
Or does this mean that the journal does not handle LaTeX _at_all_????

If this is not the case, one suggestion: maybe you used the temporary
latex file that lyx generates for itself? If so, you should use
File->Export->as Latex. You can also try to run latex on the file on your
machine, do you get any problem? If not, suggest the publisher to upgrade
their sytems.
