I've done my thesis using lyx-0.10.7. Fortunately there is already
latex/Tex format existing from our CS department, which made the
writing much easier.
In a word, you gotta follow the guideline set up by your
institution, and do the layout of the first several pages,
especially the COVER PAGE, as well as the acknowledge, signature
pages.
