I have used red LaTeX within the "report" class to format the early pages
properly with my school's requirements. I used "report" instead of "book"
because my thesis must be single-sided. This seems to be a good way to go
if you can stand the ugly red text while you're editing. I copied a lot of
the LaTeX from an old style file provided by my university.
