They're not actually broken (I run with them just fine).
The problem is with the installation of them. For some reason, you
have to hand-install the tetex packages after the installation tries
to auto-install them for you.
Do:
rpm -Uvh --force tetex-*
Followed by the following (to make sure that the tetex packages are
actually installed and complete). If any are not, force-install them
again by hand and ``rpm -V'' to verify.
rpm -V `rpm -qa | grep tetex`
This should fix the problem. After this, don't forget to edit the
/usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/config.ps for the local paper type.
