Hi, this will be my first attempt at writing a thesis using
LyX and so I've been following the discussions on the
subject which were taking place in May. Before I start
writing the thesis I'd like some info. I'd appreciate it
even if you have answers to only some of the questions:

1. Since my university doesn't have a fixed class style
(there's guidelines but no fix style), should I use the
"book" style or "article" style?

2. Is it possible to have my bibliography in the format:
   Authorname, Title, Year
instead of
   [1] Authorname, Title, Year
The reason I'm asking is that I'd like to reference papers
by Authorname, Year in the body of my thesis instead of
using number in the form of [x]. If this is possible then
how are cross references and labels made.

3. Since I expect the thesis to run into a couple of
hundred pages I thought of writing it in sections, i.e. a
each chapter in a seperate files, so that it's easy for me
to carry a copy round in a disk. Will I have any trouble
combining the chapters later? What happens to the
bibliography? Can I have a common bibliography for all the
files?

Thanks very much!
