Write the terms in the right box of each line. Then everything should be
left justified.

For better understanding it is IMHO more convient to write only one or two
terms per line. For example like this:
f(x) = (x+1)^2
= x^2+2+1
In order to align the "=" symbols you must enter "f(x)" in the left blue
box of the first line in a multiline equation, the "=" in the middle box
and the other stuff in the right box of the first resp. second line.
