(La)Tex doesn't like your prose. Too many long words. It likes short
grammatically correct Anglo-Saxon ones. :-) Put the word `as' immediatedly before
the phrase `we have shown previously', a comma after it, and delete the word
`that'. It works here with the current LyX release v1.0.4pre4, and TeTeX 0.9
Alternatively you could put the TeX caommand \sloppy as TeX ( in Evil Red Text )
immediately before `In addition', and \fussy at the end if the sentence.
the line will then be justified with the inter-word spacing bigger. This is
ugly though.
imho It's because the hyphen needed for the hyphenation of `metaphors'
will not fit in the line, and to space the line out makes the spaces
too large for TeX to tolerate. TeX hangs `metaphors' out like that so you
receive a potent signal that it needs human help.
