Hello,

In fact, LyX does not have to find the .cls file, and it is enough
that LaTeX can see them. However, you have to provide LyX with a
foo.layout file, which describes what the .cls file does. Creating
these layout file requires a bit of LaTeX knowledge, but is not very
difficult if your class is similar to the base latex classes.
