I would like to be able to type iso8859-15 characters in a Lyx window,
to be more specific, I'm after the french "oe" and "OE" ligatures
which are not in the standard latin1 map. The display part of the
whole thing should be ok, I have some suitable fonts which are
installed and can be displayed by xfd, for example. But the input part
doesn't work.
I use xmodmap to map the two characters just like I do for "ae" and
"AE", but it doesn't work for characters specific to 8859-15. That is,
mapping the characters seems to work (as far as xmodmap is concerned),
but I can't type them. I'm afraid this isn't specific to Lyx, but I
would like to know how the french speaking people on this list handle
this problem.
1. Is this a XF86 input issue and not specific to Lyx at all? When I
change the encoding (under options/screen options) to 8859-15, the
fonts look ok, but the settings are not saved. As soon as I quit Lyx
and restart it, they are reset to 8859-1. This is obviously a Lyx
issue, but then again, "oe" doesn't work in XEmacs either. I would
appreciate any clarification here.
2. As to Latex: will typing 8859-15 characters work with a simple
"\usepackage[latin1]{inputenc}" anyway? If not, is there any
Latex package that can cope with this?
Oh, I'm on Debian with XF86 3.3.5, Tetex 1.0.5, and Lyx 1.1.2.
TIA
