Try the following simple thing
Insert:
\usepackage{amsfonts}
in the latex preamble
then in the matheditor type:
\mathbb{R} or
\mathbb{N} or
\mathbb{C} or
\mathbb{Q} or
\mathbb{Z}
best,
Staffan
P.S. I've found "The (not so) short quide to LaTeX - or LaTeX in 89 minutes"
useful
It can be found from several places e.g. via www.tug.org.
