You should install these wherever you want and then set the appropriate
enviroment variables:
MFINPUTS should include the path to the *.mf files
TEXINPUTS should include path to the *.sty files
TFMFONTS should include the path to the .fm files
I don't know which environment variable points to *.fd files, though.
I looked most of this up in the web2c info file.
