Yes a couple of times. Nothing. I've rerun the configure script, tried
the default and other directories. The only thing I haven't tried is
to explicitly tell the configure script where latex is, but there's
really no option for it.
Interestingly, the command "latex" (symbolic link to "tex" binary) was
*not* in my path when I ran the original compilation of LyX. However,
a link in /usr/bin to /usr/share/texmf/bin, then adding the texmf/bin
directory to my path didn't fix the problem. I even ran a make
distclean and recompiled LyX to no avail.
I'm completely stumped as to the cause. If I know were to set
\latex_command to the tex binary I would, but even then, I wouldn't
know *why* this happened.
