Hi Thomas !
In the meanwhile I found ths xforms-library on one of my CD's (Nr. 4)
and successfully installed it with yast1 into my system.
I can start LyX now, BUT: When I open my thesis-file (which is a bit
huge: 160 pages, at least 25 eps-graphics inside,...) lyx - and even the
KDE-(XWindow)System CRASHES after 10 to 20 seconds while lyx is still
loading my document (you know: all that stuff of rendering the eps-files
etc...) ! :-(
This_didn't_happen_on_my_former_system using the same lyx-Version
(1.1.4fix3) - OK, it sometimes crashed when I hit the backspace-key to
often) BUT NEVER while it was loading my document - everything was fine,
even with the dvi and PostScript-Output. I have pratically no chance at
the moment to do something, to correct something, e.g. not displaying my
eps-files on screen or something like this, because it crashes too fast
after startup.
What could be wrong now ??
I don't really understand this problem, because I thought reinstalling
the same version should not cause any troubles.
At least for me it is the same version (because of the version-name) but
in fact the former one was from the ftp-site of sylvan (compiled
apparently for a RED-Hat-System I used before on my machine) and know I
installed the "same" version of the Suse-CD on a SUSE-System ...
Do you have any ideas, suggestions ??
yours, Richard
PS: Allan Rae in a former mail was unfortunately right: never change
before important deadlines, but apparently I had to much confidence to
Linux&Co and too less experience, I thaught upgrading the system and
installing the same version of lyx would be no problem - never trust in
computers and it's sciences .... :-(
