With lyx-1.1.6, Sparc-solaris-2.6, the compose key works fine here to
create accented characters. Are you sure you have LANG=en_US set in
~/.dtprofile or wherever you set environmental variables?
For what it is worth, lyx-1.1.6 here was also built with gcc-2.95.2,
configured --with-included-string to get it to link, and the tests are
on an Ultra-1E/200 with a Sun type-5 keyboard using CDE.
