Nop Nop Nop ... It doesn't ! I tried.
Neither does "\DeclareLaTeXClass{article (foo)}" or
"\DeclareLaTeXClass[foo]{article (foo)}" (suggested by Allan Rae)
However, I found some solution by looking in the developper list ...
about the configure script : it seems that it has to be 755.
I changed /usr/local/lyx/configure to 755 and ... it works !!
LyX couldn't call the script (I can't figure out why. they said in their
discussion in "developpers" that it works anyway since lyx calls it with
/bin/sh. But it clearly doesn't)
