I'm running lyx on the public beta, and it works fine. You'll need to do
the following:
1) install XFree86 (see http://mrcla.com/XonX for details).
2) install the developer tools (signup at http://connect.apple.com, then
login and download the installer).
3) install the fink package manager (http://fink.sourceforge.net).
4) grab the fink packages and patches for tetex,xforms and lyx from my web
page (http://www.cdc.noaa.gov/~jsw/fink) - these should be included in the
next release of fink. Packages go in /sw/fink/info, patches in
/sw/fink/patch.
5) run "fink install lyx" as root, wait about 12 hours, and
6) start lyxing!
If there is sufficient demand, I could make binary tar.gz files available.
Please do try fink first though, it's a wonderful piece of software.
