I am using jabref for my references and would like to remove multiple identical items (e.g. same author(s), title, year). With Jabref this is cumbersome (at least I haven't found a better method yet) by clicking at "keep upper/lower" ... I wouldn'd mind to switch to another program for this purpose or use a script to do that. Can somebody give me a hint?

I am not quite certain what you mean. But if you do not want the same author's name to be repeated in several subsequent entries of your bibliography then this is how to achieve just that.

I have openSUSE 13.2 / KDE and use Kbibtex as my bibliographical database.

The first screen-shot uses biblatex, style oscola.
The second uses biblatex, style chicago.

Are you using MS Windows?
