I use LyX a lot with Windows 10, and have had some spontaneous crashes that are hard to reproduce in small documents. They have happened when selecting large parts of a document (the selection scrolling beyond the current window is expanded super fast downward, across many parts of a document including figures, appendix, and then... boom!). I just tried this in LyX 2.3.3 on one of my big exam files, and it's still a problem. I tend to NOT use the emergency file, and I've learned NOT to do big mouse selections (I select only with shift and arrow keys). This may not be William's problem, but could be related to it.
