You should see the first page of the "Intro" without any margins (0mm).
Then add :
        6. "Layout -> LaTeX Preamble -> \usepackage[8pt]{extsizes}"
        7. "File -> View dvi"
And you see the first page of the "Intro" with wide margins.
If it matters - I use LyX Version 1.1.5fix2 on a RH6.1/i386 machine.
