Hi Rich, I took a quick look at this. It seems to work fine as long as it’s not in a float (which I guess kind of makes sense now I think about it…).
As soon as you put it in a float, that’s when I get the effect you describe, so try Inserting the Table on a blank paragraph in normal text mode. Someone else will have to help you regarding table numbering and captioning, though. Perhaps the longtable manual can help.
