I cannot select the index program xindex because it is not offered as a selection option.
Ad Joel Kulesza:
I wasn't sure how to create the index entries. I just entered \index{a@ä} etc. in the ERT. That didn't work. At first strange entries crept into the index: ü was suddenly under a. But since then the index has completely disappeared from the compiled PDF.inventory.
I am at a loss.
