This seems to be a Mandrake 8 specific problem that popped up several times
during the last few weeks. Please have a look at the mailing list archive
(I seem to remember some solution that involved using (or no using)
scalable screen fonts via Edit->Preferences->Screen Fonts, but I am not
sure)
