Chapter format/spacing

Greetings all,
I'm trying to condense a big report to make it as small as possible without 
taking out too many words. I noticed that the Chapter format tends to waste 
heaps of room on a page.

Can someone please let me know how to reduce 
the length from the top of the page to Chapter X,
the length to the Chapter title
and the length to the first bit of text.
