May be you just try if you are happy with your version. If there are things
that you think are missing, upgrading is no problem (there is, however a
problem with "downgrading": documents written with LyX > 1.1.5 have a new
internal table representation and cannot be processed by earlier versions.
Thus, for maximal stability use 1.1.5, for maximal comfort use 1.1.6fix3.
Try the source rpm-s, then you will have an updated rpm-database as well as
rpm telling you about the missing libraries. (Whether there are libs missing
depends on your SuSE version, you will also need some development versions that
are not needed for the binary version but are part of the SuSE distro.)
