What does the LaTeX code in this case look like?

I don't know. I have set up the right one of these extra 'Windows keys' to
act as Compose but I don't remember how. I have the following in my
.Xmodmap:

keycode 64 = Meta_L
keycode 0x6D = Multi_key

I think it's the Multi_key line that might have to do something with the
issue in question....
