The above is a drastic solution.  Certainly not suitable for the devel
list, but looking through the user's list archive, I would not
implement it there either.

Note that some mail software are set up by default to forward other
people's mail as attachments.  Some MUAs are set up to send all mail as
attachments.  

In any case, I will implement the removal of _certain_ MIME types.  If
a message is left without any body after the removal, the message will
be rejected.

I have to see about virus protection; I will not install commercial
products on my computers.  

The comprehensive solution would be TMDA:

It is a very heavily tried/used product (I also use it).  I was
suggesting to use it with automatic whitelist: a first time poster to
a list will have to send a confirmation, but then the sender address
will be whitelisted, and no confirmation will be required for
subsequent posts.
