Hello,
I have downloaded and run the new lyx-1.2.0pre5. When running it I had
some problems which I don't know whether they are bugs or just features
I don't like.
Here is the list:
- When searching (using find) and pressing forward, LyX actually
scrolled through the file although it didn't find anything. I prefer
the way it worked before, where LyX simply jumped to the proper place if
it found anything. By the way, when I searched backwards, I got the
following message in the shell:
searching backward not implemented in mathed
- My mouse-wheel doesn't work within dialogs (but it does work in the
main window) and I have to use the scroll-bar. This was also a problem
in previous versions.
- When requesting a numbered Part, appears "Part #" with the symbol #
instead of the real number (also happens in earlier versions).
- When writing a document in hebrew (right to left) and then beginning
to write in TeX mode, the english of the TeX-mode is still from right to
left. I have to change the language beforehand and then start my ERT.
Also I cannot change the language within TeX mode --- I do want to be
able to insert hebrew text within TeX mode.
- Another hebrew issue. When writing in a hebrew-letter document, I
found that (after compiling) the address is written backwards (i.e from
left to right). I managed to fix this by changing the language to
english at the start of the address "paragraph", inserting in TeX mode
{}, and then going back to hebrew. (actually it worked when I added the
TeX mode after already writing the hebrew text)
- When I installed lyx-1.2.0pre4 and afterwards installed Aiksaurus I
didn't find how to make the thesaurus work. When I installed
lyx-1.2.0pre5, then the thesaurus worked. From looking at older mails I
have the feeling that if one wants the thesaurus to work it has to be
there before compiling LyX. As a user this isn't very convenient, in
case I want to add the thesaurus later. At least one should know before
installing that the thesaurus is needed first.
That's my list. If I'm already writing, then I also have two
requests/suggestion:
- In the math panel (and maybe others) add the feature of showing (say
at the bottom of the panel) the appropriate LaTeX command and shortcut
(if exists) for the button the mouse is over. I find this very useful in
Mathematica.
- In letter style (any language), can two "paragraph styles" be added,
the \begin{letter}{} and the \end{letter}?
Sorry if this was long or sent to the wrong place. Any comment will be
appreciated.
Thanks,
Amir.
