This question is a little bit off topic, but since it relates to my project of converting RTF to LyX, and since I am in desperate need of an answer, I thought I'd ask it anyway.
I'm looking for a character map for RTF. For example, in RTF the series "\'df" stands for the German character the esstet. I found this out by looking at a German RTF file. But I need to know how to map the other characters as well, and hunting through files will not only be inefficient, it will produce an incomplete mapping. Though microsoft provides a lot of documentation on convertng RTF, they don't give a character map. They simply say that their character set conforms to the standards of ansi.
