I do not get this. Where did you set /usr/bin/ispell? Why did you set it? You have to check in /usr/lib/ispell if there is a dictionary for the language you have chosen (English or German or whatever). Then you have to check if the name of the dictionary is the name of the document language (e.g., for German, the doc language is called "german" but the dictionary "deutsch"). If it differs, you have to set "use alternative language: <dictionary name>" in the spellchecker options. You will get better error messages if you start LyX from the console. HTH, J�rgen.
