shortcut for selection of "textformats"

Hello,

as one (I certainly do) has to select different kinds of textformats (standart, section, itemize, etc) very often during the writing process, I wonder whether this can not be done with a shortcut, too?!
At least to open the pulldown menue and then be able to use the up and down arrows...

Wouldn't you find that very helpfull?
