See below, the Qt bug should be fixed in the 3.2 release. I suggest
people with troubles even after installing latex-ttf-fonts, try that
version.

It does work with pl_PL, but not with ru_RU, with or without Xft does
not make a difference.
This seems to be a problem with certain adobe fonts only, and it
should be fixed in Qt 3.2.
