Hello -- I searched the user list archives for an answer to this, but the only relevant thread begun April 8, 2003, died before the answer emerged.
I just installed version 1.3.2 using an RPM that I compiled from source on a Redhat Linux 9 machine. When I open up a .lyx file I get the following error message:
------------------------------------------------------------------------ Begin error message ------------------------------------------------------------------------ xset: bad font path element (#64), possible causes are: Directory does not exist or has wrong permissions Directory missing fonts.dir Incorrect font server address or syntax Unable to add font path. Adding /usr/share/lyx/xfonts/ to the font path. xset: bad font path element (#64), possible causes are: Directory does not exist or has wrong permissions Directory missing fonts.dir Incorrect font server address or syntax Unable to add font path. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ End error message ------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have verified that /usr/share/lyx/xfonts/ indeed exists. All of the files have ROOT permissions. The "fonts.dir" file is there. Whether I have an " Incorrect font server address or syntax" is unknown to me, as I'm not quite sure what that means.
What can I do to fix this? Does LYX demand that these font files/links have USER permissions if I run as USER??
Thanks, Alex
