AFAIR, moving the nodes is the correct way to change the appearance of the curve. You may add and remove nodes in addition to move them, and there are two kinds of splines: either going exactly through the nodes, or attracted by nodes (the curves are smoother in the second case). A picture in background may help to get the desired result. -- Jean-Pierre
