like you are suggesting having a file per slide and circumventing lyx entirely for the output? What I need is a way to include a complete page in lyx (using prosper layout). It doesn't really matter to me
The idea was to include the page you need in your file in LyX as a graphic - so say you wanted slide #2 from your ps file to be slide #5 in your new LyX file using prosper.. then you'd start slide #5 in LyX/prosper and then do an insert graphics and insert the image for slide #2.. you'd probably have to ensure that the image fits on the slide by editing the graphic's properties in LyX (right click on the graphic and change the scale %)..

Yes this is the problem I have originally. If I simply include the slide as a graphic then either a) it simply runs off the bottom of the previous slide or b) if I add an empty "slide:" heading it is shifted down in a new slide to compensate for the empty heading. So what I am looking for is a way to include a complete slide in prosper/lyx without this problem. Essentially I just need a page break I think but I don't know how to do that in lyx/prosper without using the "slide:" heading and getting the problem I describe.
