I downloaded both the port and MiKTeX. I then installed LyX. After running it, I realized I hadn't installed MiKTeX yet, and installed it. I still can't view the DVI.

I imagine I have some sort of path issue. Do I have to update the path manually, or is there a way to test my MiKTeX install for missing packages, etc.?

Thanks

Kent

I assume you installed MiKTeX, as indicated on the native port page
(http://www.home.zonnet.nl/rareitsma/lyx/)? You will need this for the
native port to work properly, particularly for generating any output.

You should then be able to preview a LyX document by "View, DVI", which
should launch the DVI viewer Yap (comes with MiKTeX); after doing this,
you can update the DVI preview by selecting "View, Update DVI". You would
then print the document directly from Yap.

The native port is excellent; I recently installed it and it was very
straightforward, and it works extremely well. I did have to install a few
additional MiKTeX packages beyond the basics (geometry, for example, to
allow fine tuning of margins on a per-document basis), but this is pretty
easy with the MiKTeX update wizard/package manager.

I installed the native Win-32 port, and it went well. Now, I need some
tips on what I need to get LyX now to print (presently greyed out) or at
the very least export a postscript file (not an option under postscript
right now). I was able to create a dvi manually under the command
prompt after exporting a latex file, but how would I view this file (or
do you process it into a dvi).

Is there any documentation on the native win-32 port?

Thanks
