1. Re spellcheck. What goes wrong? If it's that dictionaries aren't being found, then I believe the correct locations are
.dat files : share/aspell
.alias/.multi/.rws files : lib/aspell2. My understanding is that you don't need the extra files: they're intended for people wishing to compile the source themselves.
3. You can test imagemagick by opening a dos session and trying to "convert" a file. Note that this tests that the installation is OK, not that it works in conjunction with lyx. You can also run lyx with the command-line switch
-dbg 3
which can provide useful info on what is or is not being found.
4. Viewing graphics: I think you may need to provide the full path to the graphic. (If the question concerns the graphics in the lyx manual, you should also make sure that you actually have them: I seem to recall that they weren't present in the version I downloaded, but I may be wrong here).
